Sketching and playing around with my designs over the weekend has been alot of fun but trying to turn my pattern drawings into 3 dimensional drawings was another story!. It was so difficult as my designs were so small as you can see in the last post, it was impossible to master so i had a brainwave of cutting them out in tiny butterfly shapes and placing them on my unsuspecting models!... genus, looks so much better than i could have ever drawn them. Then i got creative with the colours and my pages started to come alive. From here on my creative juices were flowing and i just enjoyed the freedom i had on my pages... iv popped in some below. Hope you enjoy!

Turning print designs into three dimentional...fun fun fun!
Todays (Friday) class was spent working on our sketchbooks, below is the image i was using for the designs which follow. My first few drawings which i was so proud of until it was pointed out to me that they are not in 3D form. I didnt realise this until that very moment, after all my devoted sketching! so i was trying for the rest of the day to work in 3D ... it looks alot easier than it is but iv been trying!. Check out the sketches see what you think?. Feel free to leave a comment or a tip!

A tip of a butterflies wing transformed into many different sculptural pieces
Day 4; Today we had a two hour block each on the manikins designing a wide variety of three dimensional pieces. I focused on the butterfly wing only and kept multiplying the shapes and building them up in different ways. I really enjoyed this process. Manipulating the paper can lead to so many different structures being produced.. Surprisingly i made a large Lillie flower shape. Amazed by the freedom i was getting in my designs i have gained many ideas for my sketchbook. Also today my designs were in a larger scale and i was building height i hadn't experimented with this before and was delighted with the results. Following are the photos i took step by step. I hope u enjoy viewing them as much as i did making them!.
